Rejuvenate Your Skin with PicoFOCUS Laser Treatments

Our skin is actually incredibly resilient considering just how much damage can take place over the course of a lifetime. Unfortunately, even with a number of amazing proteins and hormones that naturally protect our skin, the signs of aging will catch up with almost everyone.

For those that no longer look as young as they feel, PicoFOCUS® laser treatments can be used to smooth and tone skin without the need for an invasive surgery.

The Loss of Elastin and Collagen

When it comes to the health and appearance of our skin, the two most important substances are collagen and elastin. These are two of the longest-lasting proteins that are produced by our body, and they help to protect soft tissue including our organs, arteries, and skin.

As time goes on, the human body will slowly begin to produce less elastin and collagen, and this means that it will not take long for skin damage to become apparent. Variables such as sun exposure, a patient’s genetics, and the use of tobacco products will all begin to take a toll on a patient’s skin by producing fine lines and wrinkles.

PicoFOCUS® Skin Laser Treatments

While PicoFOCUS® treatments generally take place around the eyes, nose, forehead, and mouth, these lasers can be used to tighten skin practically anywhere on the body.

What sets PicoFOCUS® apart from many other cosmetic treatments is the fact that it is completely non-invasive and has absolutely no downtime. Other options such as face and neck lifts can be effective for treating lines and wrinkles, but most patients will need over 10 days to recover from these surgeries. For those that are busy, this amount of recovery time is impractical.

PicoFOCUS® lasers work by sending concentrated pulses of light deep into a patient’s skin. These lasers are set to a very specific wavelength that will stimulate the body’s healing response without actually damaging the skin.

When the body recognizes that its skin is becoming old or damaged, it will automatically begin to produce more collagen and elastin. This stimulation will improve the skin’s tone and firmness in as little as a few weeks with results that may last for six months or longer.

What to Expect During PicoFOCUS® Treatments

Most patients require at least three treatments spread across two to three months. Each appointment takes 15 minutes or less depending on the size of the area that is being treated.

In addition to minimizing fine lines and wrinkles, this treatment has also been shown to help with issues such as an uneven skin tone, pigmented lesions, and acne scars. The vast majority of patients feel nothing more than their skin warming up slightly.

There is no recovery time whatsoever and patients can return back to their daily activities immediately following their treatment. Some problematic areas might need to be treated every three to four weeks in order to maintain the results.
